About Qabahla

Qabahla, a gamer from Alaska, has been gaming since the days of the Commodore 64 and Atari 5200. Learning how to write simple code with BASIC on that system and enjoying the wonders of gaming and coding. He eventually moved to the Nintendo NES and then a PC with a 486DX with Windows 3.11, which became his primary gaming enjoyment. His second computer was an IBM Aptiva with Windows 98, which he quickly saved up to upgrade and make a better gaming computer out of.

The PCs lead him down a path of upgrading and frankensteining computers to keep them working and gaming. His first real experience with Windows was Windows 3.11 and his favorite Windows version was Windows 98, as the registry was very readable and hackable. His first experience with Linux wasn't the greatest, but that can be said for many in the earlier years of Linux. RedHat 5.1 was the OS he was given to build, manage, maintain, and get to communicate with the other classmates on the Windows and MacOS systems. Each group, consisting of three students each, was assigned the task of securing their operating system from inside and outside attacks. The college instructor never did get root access from within or without that system. It was locked up tight, but it did everything he required it to do. That instructor was not amused or pleased, because he never did find out how the hell the Linux Team buttoned up their system so well. He only got access to one user account after paying $50 to one of the students. Bummer. The Linux Team had lunch on the instructors charity.

Disgusted by Window XP, Qabahla ventured off into the land of Linux once again with the guidance and tutelage of a friend discovered the power of Slackware 8.1. Quickly becoming his new OS love, he learned everything he could about how to use, operate, upgrade, modify, repair, and change Slackware to fit his needs and do everything that he wanted and needed. He then got back into learning how to program on a serious level again. Writing websites, game designing, midi compilations, and more. The tools that he had at hand filled him with so much excitement and joy that he stretched himself thin at times just to learn and push a little more.

It has been a constant love and hate relationship with Windows and Game manufacturers. Constantly switching from Linux to Windows and back again. Slowly, game manufacturers are coming to realize that Linux users are gamers and prefer to game on Linux natively. His hope is that one day the gaming industry will realize that gaming systems span a wide variety of systems and hardware and it sure would be nice to keep using old hardware, as well as, being able to use the new stuff.

Today, Qabahla doesn't do very much in the areas of programing, web design, or music creation, but this is a bit more due to a hereditary disease. For those that don't know what hereditary means, it means genetic, and no that does not mean it's contagious. Lucky guy won the genetic lotto and has Huntingtons Choria. He still loves to game, have fun, and share his stories and his life with his friends. He states that his job is kindness and he spreads it well to others. He tries to be an inspiration to others and show a positive light in a world that could use more of it.
